QUT AIML Community

The QUT AI & ML Society brings together students interested in artificial intelligence and machine learning through a mix of social events, technical workshops, and industry focused talks. Our events are designed to be welcoming to everyone, from beginners exploring AI for the first time to students building portfolios and working on real world machine learning projects.

We run hands on workshops, collaborative study sessions, social catch ups, and panel discussions, and regularly collaborate with other technology and innovation focused societies across QUT and the wider Brisbane community.

Our Discord community is highly active and includes current students, alumni, and professionals. It is the main place to ask questions, share opportunities, and stay connected between events.

How can I get involved?

The easiest way to get involved is by attending our regular events and staying around afterwards to chat with other members. Whether you want to learn new skills, meet like minded students, or explore career paths in AI and machine learning, our events are a great place to start.

You can also get involved by joining our Discord server, taking part in discussions, asking questions, and sharing projects or ideas you are working on.

The society is run by a student management committee, including roles such as President, Secretary, and Treasurer, along with general committee members. Committee elections are held each year at the Annual General Meeting, and all QUT students who are members of the society are encouraged to nominate.

Opportunities to join the committee or help out in subcommittees are advertised through our social media channels and newsletters. If you are keen to contribute to the running of the society, feel free to reach out to any of the committee members.

You can find us and stay up to date on: Discord, GitHub, Instagram, LinkedIn

Giving talks

Giving a talk at a QUT AI & ML Society event is a great way to share knowledge and build confidence speaking about technical topics. Past talks have covered areas such as machine learning fundamentals, applied AI projects, natural language processing, and emerging tools and frameworks.

If you are interested in presenting, whether it is a short introduction or a deeper technical session, reach out to us at qut-aiml@outlook.com to express your interest.
